Omar Fayad
Omar Fayad Meneses, born 26 August 1962,[1] is a Mexican politician of Lebanese origin.[1][2] He is Currently a Senator of the Hidalgo State in the Federal Congress,[1]
He was the leader of the Institutional Revolutionary Party in the state of Hidalgo in Mexico,[3] and served as Mayor of Pachuca in Hidalgo for the 2006-2009 term.[1] Fayad was elected for the LVIII Legislature of the Federal Congress for the term 2000-2003.
Fayad was strongly criticized in October 2015 when he attempted to introduce a new law against cibercrime that also criminalized the freedom of expression.[4]
He is married to actress Victoria Ruffo with whom he has three children, one of them his stepson.
