Pacific Sun Railroad

Pacific Sun Railway is a short line railroad in San Diego County, California that works on the Escondido Sub, the Miramar Branch, and in Stuart Mesa Yard. It is based from Stuart Mesa Yard. It is owned by Watco Companies.

History

Pacific Sun started on October 2008 after being contracted by BNSF Railway. BNSF previously provided service the Pacific Sun Railway currently operates.

Operations

Pacific Sun Railway runs trains weekdays late at night along the Escondido line, the Miramar spur, and the Surf Line between Stuart Mesa and San Onofre.

Equipment

Pacific Sun owns four locomotives. Two GP35 units originally owned by Seaboard Air Line, and two GP40 units originally owned by Western Pacific Railroad.
