Pantoea is a genus of Gram-negative bacteria of the family Enterobacteriaceae, recently separated from the Enterobacter genus. This genus includes at least 20 species.[1] Pantoea bacteria are yellow pigmented,[1] ferment lactose, are motile, and form mucoid colonies.[2] Besides that, some of the species show quorum sensing ability that could drive different gene expression hence controlling certain physiological activities [3]
Species
Pantoea agglomerans - most common Pantoea species recovered from humans and an opportunistic pathogen[4] associated with contaminated catheters and penetrating trauma.[5] Formerly known as Erwinia herbicola or Enterobacter agglomerans.[6]
Pantoea ananatis[1]
Pantoea dispersa[1]
Pantoea deleyi[1]
Pantoea anthophila[1]
Pantoea allii[1]
Pantoea eucalyptii[1]
