Patriotas F.C., also known as Patriotas Boyacá, is a professional Colombian football team based in Tunja, that currently plays in the Categoría Primera A. They play their home games at the La Independencia stadium.

History

Patriotas FC was founded in 2003 by the then governor of Boyaca Miguel Ángel Bermúdez, together with then Coldeportes' chairman and the owners of hardware business G&J. That year the club was in the semi-finals and was eliminated by the club Boyacá Chicó. In 2004 the team advanced again to the semi-finals but it was eliminated by Deportivo Antioquia, Centauros Villavicencio and Expreso Rojo. In 2005 Patriotas was second in the general table but in the semi-finals was eliminated by Bajo Cauca. In 2009 and after the changes implemented in the Championship, Patriotas was first in Group B but was eliminated again in the semi-finals and ended up in third place. In 2011 the team was promoted to the First Division after beating America de Cali by penalties.
