Template:/box-header Dannii Minogue (born Danielle Jane Minogue; 20 October 1971) is an Australian singer, songwriter, fashion designer and television personality. She rose to prominence in the early 1980s for her role in the Australian television talent show Young Talent Time. In the late 1980s, she joined the cast of long-running Australian soap Home and Away, before commencing her career as a pop singer in the early 1990s. Minogue achieved early success with hits such as "Love and Kisses" and "This Is It", though by the release of her second album, her popularity as a singer had declined, leading her to concentrate on other fields such as television presenting. The late 1990s saw a brief return to music after Minogue reinvented herself as a dance artist with "All I Wanna Do", her first number one UK Club hit. In 2001, Minogue further returned to musical success with the release of her biggest worldwide hit to date, "Who Do You Love Now?", while her subsequent album, Neon Nights, became the most successful of her career. In the UK, she has achieved eleven consecutive number one dance singles, becoming the best performing artist on the UK Upfront Club Chart. It is the originator of the international X Factor franchise. The six series of the show to date have aired from August/September through to December. The "X Factor" of the title refers to the undefinable "something" that makes for star quality. In the initial televised audition phase of the show, contestants sing in front of the judges – currently Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Dannii Minogue and Cheryl Cole – and, from series 6, a live audience, in the hope of getting through to the "boot camp" round. Girl is the third studio album by Australian recording artist Dannii Minogue. It was released on 8 September 1997 by Eternal Records. Following the release of several remixes of her songs by Steve "Silk" Hurley, Minogue became interested in dance music. Her interest in dance music and clubbing influenced the musical style and direction of the album. Minogue worked with several producers on the album; mainly Brian Higgins and Ian Masterson. The album presented a more sophisticated and adult style of dance music, but despite generally positive reviews, failed to make the British top fifty, although the Unleashed Tour in late 1998 sold out in Britain. It was released in 2003 as the second single from Minogue's fourth studio album Neon Nights. The song was originally performed by German dance music producer Jean-Claude Ades. Minogue's record label, London Records, played the song for her and she thought that it "could definitely be a pop hit". She approached Ades and asked him if he would be willing to transform the track from a club song to a pop song. Together they added additional lyrics and rearranged its instrumentation. Minogue considers the track to be her "signature tune" and is one of her favourite songs to perform live. Contemporary critics gave positive reviews of the song, complimenting its vocals and use of synthesizers. The song reached the top twenty in multiple countries, and topped the club charts in the United Kingdom. Its accompanying futuristic music video, directed by Phil Griffin, features Minogue dancing in a room with the song's title swirling around her in numerous languages.
