The Regar (रैगर,Rehghar, Raigar [1]) are a social group found in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Delhi, and Rajasthan in India. . [2] [3] Mostly originate from an Marwar region so they speak Marwari Rajasthani language. They follow Hinduism.

History and origin

The Regar community are distributed throughout Rajasthan. They are said to members of the wider Regar community. Their tongue language is marwari rajasthani as they originate from the marwar region.Those who immigrated to Delhi from Rajasthan claim Rajput ancestry. They converse among themselves in Marwari and use the Devanagari script for writing.they belongs to ancient Raghuvanshi Kshatriya group. With others, they speak in the Hindi language. They are non-vegetarians. Wheat is their staple diet. Occasionally they also take jao, bajara, chana and rice. There is a tendency among some of them to become vegetarians under the influence of the Arya Samaj or Radha Soami movements. There are three subgroups, namely Sindhi Raiger, Lashkaria Raiger.[2][verification needed]

Present circumstances

The Regar community mostly belongs to RajasthanRegar is an ancient Kshatriya clan, a branch among 15 main branches of Raghuvanshi Kshatriyas. It is also a proved fact that the word Regar is an expansion of the word Rag(a corrupt form of the word “Raghu” ,. There main clans are the KURDIYA (KULDEEP) Attolia (Attal), Akarniya, Aloriya (Aloria), Aluriya (Aluria) Maslpuriya(Marshal), Rahore, Balotia (Bhatt), Chauhan, ,Mehar, Chandolia,Chandoliya,Bokolia,Bohra, Gugdodiya ( Gagar) Jabdoliya, Jajoriya, Kandhediya, Kanwariya,Kholiya (Kholia) Hingonia, Raskarniya, Dabariya, Suwansia (Chauhan), Dolliya, Parsoya(Paras) ,Jatolia (Tanwar), Pundir, bhaharwal, Kansotiya, Jajoria, Dherwal, Jaluthriya, Fulwaria(Phulvanshi), Badiwal,Tungariya (Turvesh)Tanwar, Khatnawalia, Khorwal, Mosalpuria, Mohanpuriya, Khatnawaliya (Nawal),sablania, Soniwal, Nogia, Pingolia (Pingal), Rashgania, Ratawal, Ratwal, Lawadia, Maurya, Digwal (Digarwal), Jaluthariya, Jagarwal, Jagerwal ( jagrit ) Jeliya, Khorwal, Kankhediya, Kanwariya, Khedia, Kanwariya, Karadia (Karadiya) Ganolia, Sakarwal (Shakrawal), Sunkaria (Sonkaria), Basetia, Paliya, Peeplipal, sisodia, Sarsunia, Sablania, Shersia (Sarsia), Tomar, Bakoliya and Bohra. There are no marriages within the origin surnames of DADA, DADI & NANA, NANI. Like a falwaria girl can't marry to a falwaria, fulwariya (fulwaria) boy.

Their main occupations now are business, jobs, professionals etc. they are very cultured and very helpful community.[2]
