General Ri Myong-su (Korean: 리명수; born 1937 in Myongchon, North Hamgyong) is the former North Korean head of the Ministry of People’s Security.[1][2]

Ri was a confidant and military aide of the former North Korean leader Kim Jong-il. He was appointed to the position by Kim Jong-il in April 2011 and served in that role until removed from power by Kim Jong-un in February 2013.[3][4] He was made chief of General staff of KPA in 2016.

He was replaced by the current Minister of Public Security Choe Pu-il.[5]
