History
The origins of SABIS date back to 1886 when the International School of Choueifat was founded in the village of Choueifat, a suburb of Beirut, Lebanon by Tanios Saad and Louisa Proctor to provide basic education for Lebanese girls. Soon after opening the school, it became co-educational in response to market demand. Despite two world wars, the International School of Choueifat continued to grow over the years and embarked upon an expansion program outside Lebanon in the mid-1970s. The expansion was met with substantial success, which is currently reflected in the organization's global network consisting of Pre-School/K-12 schools and a university in 15 countries on four continents.The first school to open outside Lebanon was the International school of choueifat in Sharjah-UAE. Sabis schools have an option of going one term in the boarding school of Sabis-Bath and this opportunity is given from K-7/K10, This option is exclusive in some Sabis schools.
