Smith & Wesson 410, part of Smith & Wesson's American Pride Series of pistols, was designed as an affordable handgun for the American market. The SA/DA semi-automatic pistol's controls include an external hammer, trigger, slide-release, magazine-release, and a safety located on the slide. Engagement of the safety also de-cocks the hammer. As an additional safety, the pistol will only fire if the magazine is locked in place. Factory sights and grip are plastic.
Used by law enforcement and civilians for personal protection, these are traditional double-action pistols chambered in .40 caliber S&W (.40S&W). The magazines for the S&W 410 were designed to comply with the 10-round capacity restriction of the Brady Bill. Since the sunset of the Brady Bill, 11 round magazines are available that fit both the S&W models 410 and 411.
