Spice Telecom was the brand name of Spice Communications Ltd, a mobile phone service provider in India. Spice Telecom operates in 2 circles out of the 23 Telecom Circles of India. Spice operates in the states of Punjab (India) and Karnataka. Spice Communications is now a subsidiary of Mumbai-based Idea Cellular Ltd. (Aditya Birla Group company). Idea Cellular owns more than 80% equity in Spice Communications.
Recently Aditya Birla Group owned Idea Cellular took over the ownership of Spice Telecom for over Rs 2,700 crore.[2]
