Sri Guru Gobind Singh College Of Commerce (S.G.G.S.C.C) is a premier college of the University of Delhi located in Delhi, India. It was founded in 1984 and is named after the tenth Sikh Guru. It is the second college of commerce of the University of Delhi. The college is primarily a co-educational English medium institution.

The university runs undergraduate and post-graduate degrees in commerce fields. It is ranked top among all other colleges offering Business Economics.

As of 2015, the college has some 1700-2000 students. The Principal is Dr J. B. Singh and the staff are almost exclusively Delhi University graduates themselves.

History

Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce was founded in 1984 as the second Commerce College of the University of Delhi. Strategically located near the Pitampura TV Tower, the college is managed by Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, a statutory body, constituted under an Act of Parliament. The college is named after the tenth Guru Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

College Rankings

As per India Today - Nielsen 2015 College Rankings for Commerce courses, SGGSCC came in at rank 11 in a survey that consisted of more than 100 top colleges of India, bettering its previous rank of 18 achieved in 2013. It also stands 5th in delhi university as per Nielson survey.

Campus

The college spread over ~10.7 acres (43,000 m²) possesses infrastructure including class-rooms, grounds, a library and computer labs. Special care is taken to make the building accessible to physically disabled. The college is linked to Delhi University through Intranet and shares all electronic resources. Apart from academics, the thrust is also on personality development and group dynamism for which sports facilities like cricket ground, volleyball, basketball, lawn tennis, table-tennis courts etc. of national standard have been developed. The college boasts of air conditioned gymnasium, a state of the art auditorium for 500 people and also has student union rooms . The college has a Gurudwara Sahib located in the campus itself .

Student life

Various representatives of the students are elected through peaceful elections. It gives them an opportunity to gain leadership qualities. Also, it inculcates the ability to induce a cohesive team spirit. The union organises the annual cultural event 'Zest' with great fervor and enthusiasm. The cultural event offers inter-departmental and inter-college interaction among the students of Delhi University. Various inter and intra college events are regularly held to keep the students engaged, add to that, the established societies hold their own events which provides more opportunities for building one's personality and confidence.

Placement

The college has set up a placement cell in January 2005 to institutionalize the process of summer training and final placements of students from BBE, BSc., B.Com(pass), B.Com(Hons.), Economic(Hons.). About Post Graduate Courses: Post Graduate Diploma in International Marketing(PGDIM) and Diploma in Business Journalism And Corporate Communication (DBJCC) have got 100% placement result.
