Stuart R. Bell is an American academic. He serves as the President of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Early life

Stuart R. Bell was born in Abilene, Texas. He graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nuclear Engineering in 1979. He received a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the same university.

Career

Bell started his career as an assistant professor of Engineering at the University of Alabama. He then served as the Dean of the School of Engineering at the University of Kansas. Later, he served as the Executive Vice President and Provost of Louisiana State University.

He has served as the President of the University of Alabama since July 15, 2015.

Personal life

He is married to Susan Bell. They have two sons, Stuart and Stephen, and a daughter, Stacy.
