- The Taira clan, a large Japanese warrior clan of imperial descent
- The Ise Heishi (伊勢平氏?), the principal branch of the Taira clan that dominated Japanese politics for a time in the twelfth century under Taira no Kiyomori, before being defeated and effectively extinguished following the Genpei War
