Tamão was a trade settlement set up by the Portuguese Empire in today's New Territories of Hong Kong between 1514-1521.[1][2]

Background

At the 15th century, it was the time of the Age of Discovery. The Portuguese traded from Europe to the Asia. In 1514, they arrived in the waters near today's Hong Kong and had a war with the navy of the Ming dynasty in 1521 and 1522. At last, the Portuguese lost and retreated.
