Tata Bolt is a new hatchback created by Tata Motors under its Falcon programme. The car was revealed at Indian Auto Expo 2014 along with its sedan version, the Tata Zest. The car is expected to be launched in Indian markets in the later half of 2014 after the launch of its sedan version. The diesel version of Tata Bolt will be fitted with 1.3-litre quadrajet diesel engine which is already being used on Indica Vista and Manza where as the petrol version of Tata Bolt will be powered by a new 1.2-litre turbocharged, 89 bhp engine. The new car is based on existing platforms on which Vista and Manza are built. Tata Bolt will be built at Tata Motor's Pimpri-Chinchwad plant alongside the Tata Vista and the Tata Indica[1][2][3][4]

Tata Motors on January 22, 2015 launched the much awaited Bolt hatch at Rs 4.44 Lac (Ex-Showroom, Delhi). The hatch is made available in both the fuel trims with 4 variants in petrol and diesel. Tata Bolt competes with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai Grand i10. The car is developed under the banner of HorizonNext strategy, which contains three aspects- DriveNext, DesignNext and ConnectNext. Under DriveNext, the car gets segment first multi driving modes- City (default), Eco and Sport, while with ConnectNext, the hatch embraces 5-inch Harman touchscreen infotainment system.

Engine

The hatchback is powered by the 1.2-litre Revotron MPFi engine which gives a power of 88.8bhp and torque of 140 Nm. The diesel model gets Fiat’s 1.3-litre Multi-Jet diesel engine dubbed as Quadrajet. The diesel mill churns a max power of 75bhp and torque of 190 Nm. Both the engines are mated to five speed manual transmission. [5]
