Toyota NBC platform

The Toyota NBC platform is an automobile platform for subcompact cars (B-class cars) from Toyota.[1] "NBC" stands for "New Basic Car". NBC platform made its debut in January 1999 with 1st generation Toyota Vitz. It is also often called "Vitz platform".

  • Second generation Toyota bB and Scion xB are no longer based on NBC platform:
  • The third vehicle in the "Will" series — WiLL VS — was built on a larger MC platform.
  • Most NBC-based vehicles use "CP" frame code. In fact, it can be either "CP", "SP" or "LP", depending on the engine:
    • for Z-suffixed engines (NZ, SZ) the second letter is "C" (e.g., NCP10);
    • for R-suffixed engine (KR, ZR) the second letter would be "S" (e.g. KSP90);
    • for diesel engine the second letter becomes "L" (e.g. NLP90).
