The Turkish Women's First Football League (Turkish: Kadınlar 1. Futbol Ligi) is the top level women's football league of Turkey. Eight teams play a double round robin to decide a champion, which qualifies for a spot in the UEFA Women's Champions League.
The league gains little attention in Turkey, and most matches are watched only by relatives of the team's players.[1] Fashion One TV became the official media sponsor of the league for the 2010–11 season.[2]

Format
In an effort to increase quality of the league, in the 2009–10 season two teams were relegated and four teams were promoted to the first league. Thus, the 2010–11 season consisted of twelve teams.[3] After playing two groups with six teams and then having a championship and relegation group, the 2012–13 season was played as a double-round robin with ten teams again. The winner after 18 games is the champion and qualifies for the UEFA Women's Champions League, the bottom two teams get relegated.
At the end of the 2013–14 season, the Women's Second League teams İlkadım Belediyespor (Samsun), Beden Eğitimi ve Spor (Izmir), Eskişehirspor (Eskişehir) and Gazikentspor (Gaziantep) were promoted to the Women's First League after winning the play-offs.[4]
2016–17 season
2015–16 season
1207 Antalya Muratpaşa Belediyespor, which finished the 2014–15 season in the Turkish Women's Second Football League as champion, and Kireçburnu Spor, which became runners-up, are promoted to the Women's First League for the 2015–16 season.[5] The teams Derince Belediyespor, which had withdrawn from the league in the beginning, and Karşıyaka BESEM Spor, which finished the 2014–15 season as the last, were relegated to the Turkish Women's Second League. The 2015–16 league season began on November 8, 2015,[6] and ended on March 27, 2016 with 18 league weeks.[7] Konak Belediyespor became champion fourth times in a row followed by Ataşehir Belediyespor.[7][8]

2014–15 season
For the 2014–15 season, the number of teams increased from eight to ten. Four teams including Eskişehirspor, Gazikentspor, İlkadım Belediyesi Yabancılar Pazarı Spor and Karşıyaka BESEM Spor were promoted from the Women's Second League while two teams, İzmit Çenesuyu Plajyoluspor and Marmara Üniversitesi Spor, ceased their sports activities. The league's 2014–15 season began on October 26, 2014.[7]
Eligible players are those, who were born between January 1, 1986 and December 31, 2000. The number of woman players born before December 31, 1985 is limited by five for each team while only two girls born between January 1, 2000 and December 31, 2000 are allowed to join the squad. Maximal three foreigners may play in each team, who have residence permit valid at least for one year.[10]
Turkish Football Federation will be awarding 
50,000 (approx. US$23,150) to the league champion team, 30,000 (approx. US$13,900) to the runners-up team and 20,000 (approx. US$9,250) to the third-placing. The champion club's travelling and lodging expenses of at most 18 footballers and 6 staff for the participation at the UEFA Women's Champions League will be also paid by the Federation.[10]
Derince Belediyespor withdrew from the league one week before the beginning of the 2014–15 season and two days before the deadline of the footballer transfer term. They did not show at the scheduled first match against Adana İdmanyurduspor.[11]
Both Konak Belediyespor and Ataşehir Belediyespor finished the season undefeated with the same points. The play-off game between the two teams ended with the victory of Konak Belediyespor, making them champion for the third consecutive time. Ataşehir Belediyespor became so runner-up again, also for the third consecutive time behind Konak Belediyespor.[12]

2013–14 season
Two teams, Çamlıcaspor and Lüleburgaz 39 Spor, sent written notification to the Turkish Football Federation about their withdrawal from the Women's League prior to the beginning of the league season. İzmit Çenesuyu Plajyoluspor did their withdrawal notification in verbal form. The players of the folded clubs were transferred by mostly other First-League clubs.[13]
Marmara Üniversitesi Spor transferred the players Ebru Gelirli, Başak Gündoğdu, Emine Ecem Esen and Dilan Erkul from Çamlıcaspor. Elif Ataol and Fatma Ataş of Çamlıcaspor joined Trabzon İdmanocağı. Other players of Çamlıcaspor, who were transferred by other clubs, were Gizem Gönültaş by Adana İdmanyurduspor and Ayça Özkök by Akdeniz Nurçelik Spor.[13]
Ataşehir Belediyespor transferred Ebru Aydın and Mevlüde Öztürk from Lüleburgaz 39 Spor. Ebru Bayraktar and Sevilay Ankıt of Lüleburgaz 39 Spor joined Erbaa İhtisas. Evren Yılmaz from Lüleburgaz 39 Spor returned to her former club Kdz. Ereğlispor. Konak Belediyespor transferred Eylül Elgalp, and Adana İdmanyurduspor the other Lüleburgaz 39 Spor player Gözde Gül.[13]
The two other women's football clubs of Kocaeli shared the players of İzmit Çenesuyu Plajyoluspor. Ayşe Taslak, Beritan Gedik, Betül Öztürk, Büşra Adamol, Kübra Yavuz, Serra Çağan, Şule Mutlucan, Çiçek Bursalı and Nesrin Çelikdemir joined Karşıyaka Koleji Spor. Derince Belediyespor transferred from İzmit Çenesuyu Plajyoluspor Ayşen Eylem Şiner, Buse Güngör, Ecem Cebeci and Serenay Öziri. Gözde Sungur went to Kdz. Ereğlispor.[13]
