WMRA is a Public Radio formatted broadcast radio station licensed to Harrisonburg, Virginia, serving the Central Shenandoah Valley.[1] WMRA is owned and operated by James Madison University.[2]

History of call letters

The call letters WMRA were previously assigned to an AM station in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. It began broadcasting June 10, 1948, on 1450 kHz with 250 W power (unlimited). It was owned by Myrtle Beach Broadcasting Company Incorporated and had studios in the Ocean Front Hotel at Myrtle Beach.[3]
