Shaniwar Peth is a locality in Pune. It was established by Moropant Pingle in 1675. When under the Muslim rule this place was known as Murujabad/Murtuzabad.[1] Shaniwar means Saturday in Marathi, and many other Indian languages.There are many schools in Shaniwar Peth. The historic Shaniwar Wada is situated in Shaniwar Peth.[2]
