Torchy Blane in Panama is a 1938 American comedy-mystery film directed by William Clemens. The film stars Lola Lane as Torchy Blane, Paul Kelly and Tom Kennedy. It was released on May 7, 1938.[1][2][3] This is the fifth film in a series of "Torchy Blane" movies by Warner Bros. Torchy, Steve, and Gahagan are on the trail of a bank robber aboard an ocean liner traveling from New York to L.A. via the Panama Canal.

Plot

Determined to scoop the other newspapers, reporter Torchy Blane convinces her boyfriend, detective Steve McBride, that the only way the perpetrator of a recent bank robbery could fence the stolen money is to exchange it in Panama. Torchy, accompanied by McBride, police sergeant Gahagan and rival reporter Bill Canby are aboard an ocean liner traveling from New York to Los Angeles via the Panama Canal, and is carrying a boat load of Los Angeles Leopard lodge members, one of whom is the robbery suspect.
